NIS new installation but old serial number appears

I bought a new NIS 2012 (in box with licence for 3 PCs) to be installed on my 2 home computers (both WIN 7).  I already had NIS 2011 installed on each computer.

First computer went well:  I uninstalled 2011, restarted the computer, installed 2012, activated and all is ok.

Second computer:  I did exactly the same thing, but I still have 2 days of protection remaining, not 266 (and yes I activated with the activation code from NIS 2012 and there was no error message). I checked with my Norton account and it says that it is only 1 activation remaining, meaning that NIS 2012 was installed on 2 computers.  BUT,  the problem is that the NIS serial number on this second computer is still the old one from NIS 2011.  I dont understand as there was no problem during the installation and it finished normally. And yes I restarted the computer 2 times.  And yes, I unistalled NIS 2011 but asking to keep my parameters.

What can I do?  If I reinstall a second time and it doesn't work, It won't be any activation remaining.

How can I have a 2011 serial number on a 2012 installation?

Hi Caramel4406,

You just need to activate your Norton, On your Norton click on renew or activate. It would open a new page, with the Option to renew. There you would see a like, that would say I have a key to activate.

Click on that link, which would give you the space to enter the key. After entering the key, click on Next. That would activate your subscription on the second machine.

Hi Caramel,

You can still reinstall it on the second computer and it will not be counted as the 3rd PC. 3-user license pertains to the number of computer using the license. So even if you reinstall several times it will still count as 1 as it is still on the same computer.

Thanks.

It worked.  The place to click to reenter the activation code is so small and pale I hadn't seen it.

Thanks a lot.
