Three years ago when I bought new computer running Windows 7, I had installed Norton Internet Security. Shortly after, I created in Windows an additional Administrator Account and also a Standard User Account. For 3 years I operated my computer by logging into the Standard User Acct. I did not have problems with Norton I.S. until a week ago--in my Windows task tray the Norton icon had an error flag indicating that my auto protection was turned off. Norton provided option to click on a "Fix" button to resolve the problem--however it failed to fix it, so I went to next step of 'unintall and reinstall' NIS. I was unable to do this when logged in as Standard User, so I had to log into an Administrator account to reinstall NIS. Norton is now working, but when logged in as Standard User, I no longer get the small Norton window that slides out from right edge of screen after I download a program (I'm referring to the window with message letting me know if the program I downloaded was safe). However, if log into an Administrator Account and download a program I do get the slide out window.
It seems to me that a security program, such as NIS, should operate exactly the same for users that are either Administrator or a standard user. Shouldn't standard users be advised by NIS the safety level of what they had downloaded? I am worried that NIS may not be warning me about threats or attempted malicious intrusions.
