NIS optimizer versus Norton Utilities Speed disk

It seems that Norton has two optimizers available depending on the tools you have.  In NIS, if I understand correctly the optimizer fires of windows defragmenter (applies to whole drive for Win 7 and just boot drive for Win XP).  But in Norton Utilities disks are optimized with speed disk.  Apparently these two work differently.  So the question is--should both be used, or just one be used?

Thanks

Thanks Allen;

I have NU 15, which I uses Speed disk to defrag, while the most recent version of NIS I believe uses windows defrag.  So would you suggest I just use NU 15 defrag?

Hi sjohn_az,

Yes I would recommend using NU 15's defrag utility.

Again, please be sure to turn OFF NIS's Idle Time Optimizer in Misc. Settings since they both perform the same function.

Best wishes.

Allen
