I don't need some of the features NIS has. I usually leave it all running on newer machines, but on some machines (eg netbooks or older machines), I like to disable a few things to improve performance. Just wondering what people recommend disabling to improve performance ?
This my list of tweaks which make a noticable difference on older machines :
-Turn off Idle Time Optimizer that runs Windws defragger (only do this for machines with SSDs or if you defrag yourself)
-Turn off Performance Monitoring (I dont need it)
-Turn off Identity Safe (I dont use it)
-Check the "Disable Norton Safe Search" option in Toolbar drop down (I use Google search)
-Turn off Auto Download new version (I'm running NIS2012 because I HATE the Facebook icon on NIS 2013)
-Turn off Monthly report
-Turn off Special Offer Notifications
-Turn off Instant Messenger Scan (I dont IM)
-Turn off all the Anti Spam options - but you have to leave the process running (only do this if you use Hotmail/Yahoo etc)
-Turn off power saving mode (leave it if you use machines that run on batteries)
-Turn Off Norton Community Watch (I know I should help, but bad luck)
-Turn off Metered Broadband Mode (it's set to "no policy" by default, so there is no point in this running!)
Any other suggestions ?
