NIS registry leftovers interfering with installing NOD32

Hello,

I bought two new toshiba laptops running windows 8 that had NIS installed on them. I already had Eset NOD32 licesnses good for another 9 months so I uninstalled the NIS through the control panel on one of the machines and then used the norton removal tool. I then went to intall the Nod32 but get a message that NIS is still on the machine and uninstall it before continuing. I did not continue installing NOD32.

I have again tried using the removal tool both in regular mode and in safe mode severral times still no luck,

I have searched the registry and find numerous entries containing either north or symantec. There are no other folders or files in the c drive that I can find.

I have not deleted anything int he registry as I dont want to turn this brand new computer into a paper weight.

Any ideas how to fix this? Any know registry entry known for this and or is safe to remove? If neeeded I can try to copy each entry and post if that helps.

Please let me know what I can do...

Thanks

John
