NIS Removed trojan.fakeav But Now IE Doesn't Work At All

I just used norton to remove the trojan.fakeav virus from my computer and now i have no internet.  i checked some of the other theads on here but none of those solutions worked.  what seems to make my problem different is that i cant get on any website all.  when i open IE it just goes to the screen saying it couldnt load the page, i've tried different web pages with the same results.  i have a moderate level of tech/IT knowledge, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

By resetting Internet Explorer settings, you return it to the state it was in when it was first installed on your computer.  Please review and verify that all your IE settings, options and add-ons are setup / enabled correctly.  

By resetting Internet Explorer settings you delete personal settings, some webpages that rely on previously stored cookies, form data, passwords, or previously installed browser add-ons might not work correctly. Resetting Internet Explorer to its default settings does not delete your favorites, feeds, Web Slices, and a few other personalized settings. Please see Windows Help and Support >Internet Explorer Reset Settings for a complete list of all settings and information about whether they are reset or maintained.
