There was a previous thread about this that was marked “Solved”, but the solution was to remove IE10 and reinstall IE9. Yes, this will fix the problem, but doesn’t solve the issue of NIS removing cookies in IE10 that eliminates all of your remembered logins!
This problem started for me last week shortly after I installed IE10. It occurred when NIS performed a Quick Scan and it occurred moments ago when NIS did its weekly scan. All websites (Amazon, forums, communities such as this one, etc.) where I login and check the “Save login name and password” box; forgets my login information and I have to login again. Just prior to this occurring, I had installed a new high speed cable modem, so that was my first suspected cause, but I couldn’t figure out how it could possibly be causing the problem.
So, I checked NIS Computer Protection History and sure enough, it appeared that Tracking Cookies were removed (date and time) just prior to all of the sites I login to forgetting my login information and causing me to have to login again.
To confirm that NIS Tracking Cookie removal might be the culprit, I logged into my frequently visited sites where I participate and went between sites making sure they retained my login information and they did. Then I performed a NIS Quick Scan and when complete I noted that Tracking and Orphan Cookies had been removed (about 37). Sure enough, all sites where I had logged in and checked “Save login name and password” no longer remembered me. So, either NIS just isn’t completely compatible with IE10 or something in a recent update has caused the problem, NIS is now misclassifying IE10 cookies and removing cookies that contain information related to sites where login information is contained.
It appears that several other posters have experienced this problem. There might be something different about how IE10 processes cookies, so I don’t know if the blame rests with Microsoft or Norton or both. However, I sure hope Norton, or Microsoft, corrects this soon!!! For the most part it’s just a nuisance and with Identity Safe you simply login again, but for places like Amazon you lose your Recent History which contains items of interest that you just haven’t moved to your cart.
