I am running NIS ver 21.4.0.13 on an i5 ASUS laptop with Win 7 Professional x64bit.
NIS appeared in the system tray with a red cross indicating some problem, however I was unable to access the program and ended up re-installing it. The NIS icon is present in the system tray with the customary green tick indicating everything is working okay.
However, when I try to launch NIS from either the system tray or from the Start>programs, the NIS icon appears in the taskbar, but the program doesn't launch. Hovering the cursor over the taskbar icon gives the usual Win7 preview screen, but this shows a gray box with no NIS details. Clicking on the gray box results in nothing happening. There is the red close button in the gray box which closes the program and right clicking in the gray box brings up the contextual NIS menu, but nothing happens when any of the options are clicked.
The laptop belongs to my son who did previously have a second monitor plugged into the laptop. The second monitor has been removed and he is using the laptop screen. The Win7 Display settings have been set back to one monitor, but I am still suspicious that this may be the underlying problem. However, no amount of trying solutions suggested on the internet has been successful in restoring NIS to an accessible state. Other programs such as Firefox and jv16 Powertools open up and display normally from the taskbar icon.
Any suggestions would be welcome.
