NIS stop running after updating

Hi,

I am running windows 7 SP1 and NIS 2011. One day I updated windows and then after restarting, NIS cannot start. I don't know if NIS did  a Live update or not.

I try to run it manually then it says error and points me to the FAQ page. The answer tell me to do an Live update then restart but NIS still cannot run.

Then I use the remove tool and reinstall NIS. After installing, NIS can start but then I do a Live update and restart again, NIS cannot start as before.

I also try to install NIS 2012 but it still cannot start with windows. Anybody has a clue?

Hi

Welcome. Please Download and run the Manual Updater from here (Select the appropriate Operating System). Restart and Check NIS . Let us know how it went...

Hi, thank you for your support. It works perfectly.

Very Glad to hear that...take care...:robotvery-happy:

Today, after restarting the computer, I get the error again. Guess it is some bug in LiveUpdate? :mansad:

Hi

Please try to follow the Steps in here.

Hi, I take your procedure there. After using Norton removal tool, all the drivers are already removed, so I just delete all temp files.

But it is strange that after reinstall, my subscription is still kept. And after LiveUpdate, still got error. @@

Hi

Can you provide the error number/the error you are getting?

It says fixed but after restarting, still get error

Goto Devmgmt.msc -> Remove the Hidden Drivers -> Then Run NRT -> Restart -> Delete Norton and Symantec Folders in Program Files (x86) also in Program Data -> Clear the Temp and %temp% -> Run check Disk : start -> type cmd -> right click run as admin -> type chkdsk /r /f -> type y -> Restart -> let the check disk run -> Download and Install NIS

Hi, it works again. Try to do LiveUpdate and restart a few times, so far so good. So what's wrong with the product? In three days I restart my system more than normally use in 1 month. :mansad:

Hi

Sometimes the Norton supporting files in the computer might get locked in Bad clutters of the Hard Drive. To eliminate that chance only i asked you to run the check disk, Another chance can be: there are lot of Drivers working in the Background to operate the Antivirus and one of those drivers is the Iron Drivers due to malfunctioning of this driver has been the cause for the 8504 errors.
