NIS stops doing scans and clicking on quick scan or full scan does nothing

I'm sick of it. I've uninstalled and reinstalled NIS three times in the past month but after doing a scan it stops doing more and I end up with a red exclamation mark on the tray icon. When I click on *fix problem* nothing happens. When I click on full scan or quick scan nothing happens. I just went the tech rep route and he(she) took control off my computer, clicked on the scan options and nothing happened so they uninstalled NIS and reinstalled it. I told them this doesn't work but they just said *OK*. 

 

It's working now but I bet it will stop working again just like it did before. It's obvious that NIS doesn't work right on Windows 8.1 as a Google Search yields plenty of results of other complaints of this problem. I wish NIS  developers would take this problem seriously as there is obviously a bug or two here. If they could only fix the bug as fast as they took my money I'd be happy but, alas, it doesn't look like that's gonna happen as the new downloads failed to fix the problem.

 

I am disappointed. I feel like I've been ripped off. In my mind NIS is a POS.
