Regarding NIS version 22.5.0.124 [Admin edit - also 22.5.2.15]
What on earth is going on with this version of NIS! I have been a Norton user for many years and have NEVER had so many issues after an update.
Anyway, today's problem is to do with the inability to disable Auto Protect.
When right clicking on the NIS Tray Icon the "Disable Auto-Protect" option is greyed out. If I open NIS and navigate to the Anti-Virus settings page the "Auto-Protect" and "Removable Media Scan" options are greyed out. A message at the bottom of the dialog box says '* These settings cannot be changed due to a pending remediation action. Restart you computer to resolve the issue.'
Well I can tell you that restarting does nothing. Viewing the History shows that there are no unresolved security issues. There is NO information at all regarding just what the required remediation is. How on earth are we to resolve issues like this!!!
I have used the Norton Remove and Reinstall Tool which successfully re-installed NIS v22.5.0.124 after which I run Live Update a number of times. After going through this exercise the Disable Auto-Protect options did indeed become available again. HOWEVER, a little time later after which I had restarted the machine a couple of times, I noticed that the options for Auto-Protect were again greyed out, with the same message displayed in settings.
I do NOT want to have to reinstall this software every time I might need to temporarily disable the Anti-Virus checker.
What goes on Symantec? What on earth have you done with this version of NIS. Despite my years as a user all this carry on with dozens of false positives, reliable old programs being treated as 'suspicious', Identity Safe opening behind the browser all the time, and now the software thinks that some remediation is required, that never occurs, cause me to reconsider my next renewal which is due in 90 days.

Annoyed
