Yesterday, I noticed that I could not open NIS. I tried restarting my computer (Windows 7), but that didn't work. I downloaded the remove and reinstall tool and ran that, and I ran the Norton Power Eraser. It would not complete the installation and gave me an error (I don't recall what that error message said). I uninstalled again, restarted, and reinstalled. This time, it would go all the way through its installation until it reached the "Communicating with the Norton Server" screen. I let it continue on that screen for a couple hours and then tried to open NIS. I received error message 8504, 106. I uninstalled again, reboot, and reinstalled. Again, it would reach that final screen and hang. Instead of trying to open the program, I tried to open live update, which did not open. I rebooted, hoping that the program would just load, but it did not and gave me the 8504, 106 error code again when I tried to open it. I've uninstalled and reinstalled several times now, and it's continuing to do the same thing. It's been sitting at the CwtNS screen for the past few hours right now. Even though it's hanging on that screen, everything seems to indicate that the program has been installed - it shows up in Windows under programs, and there's a desktop icon, and it asked to install toolbars for all of my browsers.
