This is really getting on my nerves so I'm apologizing in advance for my obvious anger.
This morning I started my computer (HP PC Windows 7) and the Norton tray icon was missing so I first clicked on my desktop icon to start the program, but nothing happened so I tried from the start menu, nothing happened so I went into the program folders to try and start it, nothing happened. Finally, I uninstalled the whole thing, downloaded and ran the Norton removal tool and reinstalled the whole stupid thing again. It ran update, said all updates were installed and up to date, but now the tray icon shows a little red "!" and it's the same b.s. all over. It won't start no matter what I do. If I click on "Support" it will run and scan for errors/problems, but it says there are no problems. I can't open NIS and the stupid exclaimation point won't go away so I'd say that's a #&*!** problem!!
I have Malwarebytes and it detects no problems so the problem is definitely with NIS. I didn't install any new software or have any new updates recently so it makes no sense that it decided to stop functioning all of the sudden. My subscription does not expire until November 2013 so that's not it either. There seem to be no other issues with my computer except for Norton.
When I right-click on the icon, I can run Live Update, Quick Scan, Check for New Version and Get Support, but nothing happens when I click on Open Internet Security or View Recent History. I can't open NIS through the start menu or desktop icon either. So please, for the love of all that is good in the world, how do I fix this!?
