NIS09 Corrupting windows on a particular Motherboard

Hey

We are an IT support company and system builder.

Recently we changed motherboards to a Gigabyte GA-M57SLI-S4 Motherboard with Nvidia Nforce 570 SLI Chipset.

After 3 separate board of the same version we seem to have discovered an issue with Norton Internet Security 2009 where it seems to conflict with the Mobo’s chipset and completely corrupts windows.

This is with Windows XP Professional SP2 & SP3

We have over time discovered this with installing Windows and device drivers then putting NIS on and attempting to do a live update the system freezes and we reboot and the system is corrupted.

We then tested the machine with just the Gigabyte Drivers on it the Install NIS09 and the exact same thing happened we then wipe the hard drive again and this time only have Windows installed then install NIS straight away same thing happens. I have tried different NIS Cd’s and also Downloaded a copy of the internet it makes no difference.

We have had to resort at times for people with this motherboard to going back to Norton Internet Security 2008 which being far far slower is the only one that actually makes the computer stable.

All3 boards now run absolutely perfect with NIS08 so we are 90% sure it is an issue between NIS09 and this board and its chipset.

During testing hardware also changed in-case of faulty hardware causing the issue however the issue prevailed but once NIS 08 was installed we have zero problems.

Just thought you should be aware of this and hope for a patch for it.
