NIS'09 Full System Scan won't start... any which way!

SUMMARY:

NIS'09 Full System Scan will not run, either manually or scheduled.  I tested that it ran OK immediately after NIS install, but now the day after it won't run.  Also, other types of scans run fine.

DETAILS:

Yesterday I did a brand new install of NIS'09 on XP SP2 machine.  Everything went smoothly.  As I usually do with NIS I made a scheduled nightly Full System Scan for 4AM.  I even checked that this scheduled task would run OK in Windows Scheduler by right-clicking "Run" and it popped-up the Norton scan window and started a full scan... fine... I manually cancelled this scan.

The only other significant thing I did after that was a LiveUpdate.

Today I went to check whether the 4AM scan ran... NO GO.

So I tried right-clicking "Run" again... now it no longer starts... NO GO.

Then I opened NIS, Managed Scans, Configure, and clicked Full System Scan... won't start... NO GO.

So I tried clicking "Scan Drives"... it runs no problem... GOOD.

I also tried "Quick Scan"... also no problem... GOOD.

Went to command prompt and tried to run "navw32.exe /L"... does nothing... NO GO.

So what could've caused this odd change in behavior, which ONLY affects Full System Scan but not other types of scans?  Could it have been the LiveUpdate which broke this somehow?

The logged-in user has administrator rights and is the same one used all along, same one that installed NIS and ran a test Full System Scan OK initially.

Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated!

For various reasons (that I don't have time for right now) I seriously don't believe it's a malware issue.

I'm 99.99% sure it's an issue with the NIS software.

I'm hoping for feedback about how NIS & Full System Scan works... so that I can fix this.

OK, Problem Solved!

I rebooted the computer, et voila, Full System Scan now works fine, both manually & scheduled.

Now I know what caused it.  I ran LiveUpdate and the user said she would reboot later, but she apparently forgot, so I guess that put the scanner (navw32.exe) in some sort of limbo.

Phew!
