Hi
I have NIS 2008 and did a google search for the Grc leak test
I downloaded it and see if NIS would block it,
After i open the leak test and then test it. NIS never did anything no pop ups asking if i wanted to block it or anything So the Leaktest was able to Penetrate My Firewall that NIS uses, now wonders if NIS Firewall is even safe to use??
So how do i prevent the leaktest from penetrating my NIS 20008 Firewall?
I have a the Basic Free Firewall for Zone Alarm on my other computer and no problems ZA was able to block the leak test from penetrating my computer Wondoers if i should use ZA for my firewall now on my Vista Computer that has NIS2008 installed?
Any suggestions?
Thanks
Will first i had to remove the leak test from the program control first then did your suggestion and NIS did pop up asking me to block it or allow,
But now there are more options like should i turn on Program Launch Monitoring? or Turn on program component monitoring?
Since i did your suggestion now getting pop ups got one from Live updating trying to connect to other components and something about program/spyware and at the bottom said block (recommended) so i blocked it
And can't see anywhere to see where you find programs that you blocked not in the program control.,
So for now i just put it back to the original setting..
Thanks for your reply.
Make sure you have all the live updates to version 15.5.0.23.
My NIS2008 is updated, Update it everyday or whenever there are files to be updated…
We are looking into this discussion topic. Thank you for your patience on this.
never did that test.
try the following:
go to NIS options-> firewall options -> on how to respond set to "ask me what to do"
then run leak test again.
If NIS now does not give any feedback, then it most probably won't protect against this issue. I'm not an expert and I really do not now what a leak test is, but this is how I would proceed.
On the other hand you can look at the history of all events and look up if NIS made a "silent" block when running the test.
From what I know when compared with zone alarm, NIS will give almost no online feedback, while ZA will annoy you for every bit of a possible issue....
But there might, I repeat might, be no differences in performance or safety....
