Hi KATA,
Could you just confirm that it is the most recent version of NIS2008? Go to "Help & Support" in the Main Norton Window, then click "About". Click on the Norton Internet Security Tab and the version number will be at the top. It should be 15.5.0.23
Thanks.
Hello Phil_D
I'm not sure of the version. I had to uninstall it in order to get my computer to work at all. I re-downloaded the install file only a few days ago before trying to install again so I assume its the latest. The download exe that I got and used is: NIS081550.exe
You could try v2009 which just has been released. It uses a different installer. Besides that the upgrade is free.
Upgrade to v2009Thanks. I was thinking about that after seeing the posts about it on the forum. NIS worked great for me for the past few years and NIS2008 is running fine on my laptop. But this mess on my desktop has been extremely frustrating. It may be time to switch to some other product
KATA,
Don't switch yet. Stu is correct that 2009 is a really good product with different installers
Save NIS 2009 to your desktop, then uninstall whatever Norton products you have on your desktop. Since you had a problem with your installation, I would also run the Norton Removal Tool.
Once that is done then install NIS 2009, use you current activation key and let us know how things are.
Best wishes.
Phil_D and Stu you are geniuses!! I uninstalled all Norton products; Ran the Norton Removal Tool; Ran the SymReg Fix (just in case - it said there were no invalid entries). Downloaded and Installed NIS2009 and so far so good!! I’ve re-booted and everything seems to be working. After several weeks of aggrevation with NIS2008 this was a dream. Thanks again gentlemen.
KATA,
On behalf of Stu and myself, I thank you for the compliment. But remember it could not have been accomplished without your perseverance.
The real reward is hearing that you have resolved your issue and that your computer is running well again.
If you need anything in the future, you know where to find us.
Best Wishes.
