I am having an issue where every time the idle full scan is automatically started, about 15 minutes later ccsvchst.exe crashes. I have tried reinstalling after using the Norton cleanup tool. I do not have this issue with my Win7 install.
Can you try disabling the antispam feature Go to Settings > Network Settings and turn Antispam off and save the settings. Monitor how it performs for a while and let us know what happens.

I just want to do that to see if it alleviates thie issue. It used to be a cause of these crashes but was fixed some time ago. Just trying to narrow down the cause.
I disabled the antispam feature and also applied the hotfix for sonar (it was removing all my autoit compiled scripts).
I ran a full system scan without issue. I'm not sure how to get an automated scan to start...I let my computer sit idle for a long time and it didn't start.
The idle full system scan will run 7 days from the time the last idle full system scan ended provided the computer is idle at the time and your system clock is correct without having any errors. You can't enable the idle full system scan in any way other than making sure that Idle scans are turned on and you haven't scheduled any scans. You will just have to wait the 7 days to see if what was suggested has fixed your problem. Thanks.

Glad that progress is being made. Since backing out the hotfix isn't an option you could, if you wish, enable the antispam feature to see if your crashes return.
Did you do an in-place upgrade from another version of NIS to get to NIS2010 or did you uninstall your previous version first. If you uninstalled did you use the Norton Removal Tool or just add/remove from Control Panel?
Actually I wrote too soon...it crashed again overnight. There was another Full Scan message box. (maybe it paused the full scan and just continued?)
Previously I was using Live One Care, which expired. I installed NIS 2009, for about a week then upgraded to 2010. After the first crash I cleaned the install with the Removal Tool, then did a clean 2010 install.
Did you remove Live One Care completely from your system before using Norton's? Please find their removal tool for that product and use it a couple of times to make sure that Live One Care is completely removed. That is most likely the thing that is causing problems with your Norton's. Hope this helps and thanks for posting. If you still have parts of that Live One Care, it's probably conflicting with Norton's. Please run a HiJack This and post the log using add attachments and someone will check out the log. Thanks.
