NIS2010 on Win7-Ultimate(x64) Install & Compatibility Questions

Hello:

Used "old" Norton for many years on my XP box, and am seriously considering NIS2010 for my Dell XPS8100.

(Back story is that yesterday's update to the 2010 versions of my OEM 2009 McAfee Sec Ctr on my otherwise rock stable Win7/64 box resulted in a computer that would only boot into safe mode -- black screen. Could only boot into safe mode.  2 complete clean uninstall/reinstalls of McAfee later, computer is back to normal (hardware & software), but temporarily without AV and using only Windows Defender, Windows Firewall and MBAM Pro.)

My hardware is very robust, so I am not concerned about resource utilization issues (which I am told are resolved with NIS2010).

I really mostly need AV and Firewall -- I have other anti-spam protection, don't need parental controls, and use Carbonite for oniine backup.

Before installing NIS2010 (can't wait for the official release of 2011), I have some concerns, though about:

1) The Norton toolbar, esp compatibility with Firefox 3.6.8 and the dificulty uninstalling it, should the need arise;

2) Compatibility with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, a 3rd-party anti-malware product specially designed to catch rogues and to provide real-time IP protection (any AV/FW I install MUST play well with MBAM Pro, the paid, real-time version);

3) Known issues with installation or performance on Win7/64 platform -- McAfee assured me/us/everyone that their 2010 product was fully tested, but many folks have had serious issues.  My own experience with an unbootable system (which was otherwise functioning completely normally, even with their *2009* product) is indefensible.  So, I am skittish and squeamish about such assurances.

4) Configurability, features and options:  While I never had a protection issue with McAfee on either box (Win7 or Vista), they continue to strip down their home user products to the point that they are lacking in many important & desirable features, configuration options, and settings.  Is this a problem with NIS2010?

5) Any other known issues about which I should be aware -- I use this computer to telecommute, so I need it to be fully functional.

I greatly appreciate any assistance you might provide that would permit me to proceed with a worry-free installation and use of NIS2010.

Thanks,

MM
