NIS2011 automatically updated yesterday to Version: 18.6.0.29 and now Outlook 2007 shows an "Cannot start processing services there is insufficent free memory ..." message on startup or if I click on aen email folder other than the inbox "Cannot display folder. There is not enough free memory" etc. Running on Win7 (32 bit).
Disabling the Norton Antispam Outlook com add-in via the Outlook Trust Centre restores normal Outlook 2007 functionality.
Re-enabling the add-in restores the fault. I also disabled all other Outlook com add-ins but this did not effect the fault.
I put a call in to Norton Technical Support and recreated the issue. Their only suggestion was to go back to Version 18.5 which is OK as a stop gap. Version 18.5 has worked fine for me apart from the Identity Safe missing site login or not logging in automatically issues I reported a while back which is still there.
Any one else experiencing this or have any ideas re restoring normal Outlook Antispam functionality under 18.6?
A similar problem also happened to me. This morning i renewed by subscription to N360. Installed and Did restart and then opened MSOutlook 2007 and got the message "Cannot start processing services. Not enough free memory...." Closed MSOL and restarted and then got into MSOL only later to get an error "there is not enough memory" when send/receive emails activated. After a little research i then started OL in safe mode and it worked correctly identifying that it could be the addins. It then clicked and i deactivated the N360 addin and MSOL now functions.
It beats me that N360 cannot have an addin that functions for OL...I mean doesn't that defeat the whole **bleep** objective of N360 to control emails ??? Or have i miss understood something ??
It is possible during an update some files have damaged... If you have a little time, please try this:
1. If you use the feature, please backup your Identity Safe data 2. Download latest Norton Internet Security installer: Norton Internet Security 2011 v18.6 3. Download Norton Removal Tool: www.norton.com/nrt 4. Disconnect from internet 5. Remove Norton Internet Security from Start Menu or from Control Panel -> Add or Remove programs 6. Reboot 7. Run the Norton Removal Tool, reboot (repeat it 2-3 times) 8. Install Norton Internet Security 2011 9. Run Live Update until you get no new updates 10. Restore your Identity Safe data
You can check how the Norton Removal Tool works in this video.
