I have a problem with NIS 2009. The problem is that if I put the option Stealth Blocked Ports on in Advance Settings of Smart Firewall I cant connect to the internet, but If I turn that option off I can surf the internet without problems. Any suggestions?
Hi,
Can you explain your network configuration a bit?
- Are you connecting wireless or wired?
- Are you using a router?
- Are you connected directly to your DSL/cable modem?
- What exactly happens when you turn on stealth blocked ports? Do you still have an ip address? If you could please private message me your ipconfig settings with stealth blocked ports on and off, then that would help.
- To do so, goto a cmd prompt, type "ipconfig /all > filename1.txt". You can then copy & paste the contents of filename1.txt into a PM for me.
Thanks,
/Chester

I'm connecting wired
Yes, I am using a router for my PS3
My internet is fixed wireless (via roof antenna) and it is connected to the router and the router is connected to the tower
When I turn on stealth blocked ports I can't surf the internet (I can't open any pages) and when I turn off stealth blocked ports I can surf the internet without problems.
LethalBoy,
Can you answer Chester's other two questions:
- What exactly happens when you turn on stealth blocked ports? Do you still have an ip address? If you could please private message me your ipconfig settings with stealth blocked ports on and off, then that would help.
- To do so, goto a cmd prompt, type "ipconfig /all > filename1.txt". You can then copy & paste the contents of filename1.txt into a PM for me.
Also, do you see anything in your Security History logs around the same time as you encounter the problem?
