No FTP, intermittent HTTP dropouts

Hi, I just bought a new laptop which came with Norton software installed.

After a bit of a play, I uninstalled all the Norton software that I could find, as I have no need for it.

Since then I have not been able to connect to any server via the FTP protocole, and HTTP connections intermittently fail. My immediate guess was that Norton had left some kind of dns/proxy/whatever that was getting in the way, so I used the Norton removal tool. I still cannot access FTP, HTTP still intermittently fails.

Attempting to hit: ftp://elcabra.com (A publically accessable server I have at home) results in the standard"

Oops! Google Chrome could not connect to www.elcabra.com" (chrome hides the protocole in this message)

Using Windows Explorer results in: "A connection with the server could not be established"

Doing the same with another computer on the same network results in a connection within 2ms.

I had absolutly no issues connecting to any website, with any protocole before uninstalling Norton.

The computer in question is a Samsung series 9 ultrabook.

The issue may be being caused by something other than Norton, but in my experiance, I'ts the most likely candidate.

If anyone has any knowedge of how Norton may have caused this issue, please let me know.
