A few months ago, I had Norton Internet Security 2008, and after a live update, I was unable to connect to the internet. Norton support had me uninstall NIS 2008, which immediately restored my connection. Then they remote connected to my pc (Windows XP), and ran the removal tool and installed Norton Internet Security 2009. All went well for a month or so. But now, I am having problems connecting to the internet. If I connect and stay connected, it will last for a week. But if I shut down, when I restart, it will not connect. After waiting an hour or so and restarting again, I will connect. I have another pc using the same connection without any problem, so it is not my connection. I also noticed that my scheduled full system scans are no longer running. I checked, and they are still scheduled correctly, but they aren't kicking off automatically. If I run a full scan, it is clean (minus tracking cookies).
I have read others' suggestions to flush DNS. Should I try that? Scared to try without asking first!
