Hi,
Using Norton Ghost 15 on Windows XP SP3, I made a mirror image of Drive C on an empty but formatted disk. The letter assigned to that disk was F: before I made the mirror image. Now, when I boot from the mirror drive (the other drive died), Windows XP starts but stalls just before displaying the login icons. I suspect that there is an entry in the registry that assigns this drive to the letter F instead of C and that XP is not able to find critical information.
Is there a way to correct the problem?
Of interest, I created an image on another larger drive (this time unformatted) by recovery from a Ghost backup. I was not able to boot from that drive (no NTLDR, bummer! It was a Norton Ghost backup from My Computer after all.) However, if I try to boot from the mirror drive with this larger recovered drive installed I am this time able to boot. It looks though that what I am seeing on C: partition is what I had in my ghost backup but not what I have on the mirror drive. (I had put a tag file to tell.)
Could someone help me?
Thank you,
-Nicolas
