no memory column in process tab of task manager, symevent64x86.sys related?

if the subject heading needs to be clarified, feel free.  thanks.

had a BSOD prior to the last reboot.  stop code 7e.  file in question: symevent64x86.sys.  first ever encounter with this file as part of infrequent BSOD's.

prior to  BSOD, had followed a forum member's reference, tds..., to its conclusion elsewhere on the web.   uploaded and downloaded folding@home client project.  assured client starting work on new project, disconnected from internet, firefox browser still open.  as per habit, went to tools/options/privacy to check for discardable cookies.  then the above crash occurred.

rebooted normally and is currently 20 hrs in use and counting with no ill effects, except ...

with task manager always open, at times alternating between processes and performance tab, i have seen the memory column and the right-click option, uac virtualization checked.  these are currently absent, with the latter greyed out.

after the reboot, normal mbam scan came up clean, as usual.  NIS quick scan found low-risk tracking cookies  from experts-exchange.  running full scan now.  last ran 2 weeks ago.

win 7 64 pro, 8 gb, NIS 2010.  clean install of OS and NIS.  liveupdate made the change to current 17.1.0.19.  past BSOD's with win 7 were dxgmm1.sys referenced, unreplicable and unresolved.  the last of those was followed immediately by an atapi.sys referenced BSOD.  normal normal since, until this latest twist.

any ideas on where to begin on the current scenario?
