No more tracking cookies?

Hey all,

One last question about my new setup.

I just installed a wifi setup with a netgear 750 today after being on a wired setup for years.

The intresting thing that I just noticed is that my Nortons Virus scanner no longer picks up tracking cookies.

I have done two full scans of my computer after using it on the internet and it did not pick up a single tracking cookie.

For years now it would find 30 to 50 tracking cookies after a days use.

Could my new router be blocking tracking cookies from getting on to my computer?

I just went to 50 different web pages to try and pick up as many cookies as I could but when I do the scan it shows nothing.

Thanks,

Marc

Hi Marc,

Welcome to Norton Community.

The Wireless Router could not be causing any issues with tracking cookies.

Please follow the bellow steps to check if the Tracking Cookies Scan is "Ignored".

If you have Norton Internet Security, Please follow this.

1. Open Norton program.

2. Go to Settings ---> Computer Scan.

3. Look for "Tracking Cookies Scan" option on the right side.

4. If its set to "Ignore" , thats where the problem is.

5. Click on the it and set it to "Remove".

6. Then click Apply and Ok.

If you have Norton 360, please follow these steps.

1. Open Norton program.

2. Go to Settings ---> Scans and Risks.

3. Look for "Tracking Cookies Scan" option bellow.

4. If its set to "Ignore" , thats where the problem is.

5. Click on the it and set it to "Remove".

6. Then click Apply and Ok.

Then when you do a Quick or a Full scan, it should detect and remove the Tracking cookies.

Please let us know how it goes.

Regards,

J Sathya.

NIS2012 latest update. Exactlt the same as the OP. We too are no longer seeing any Tracking Cookies being removed although the Remove tracking cookies is set to Remove in the settings. So it seems there might be a problem.
