I see Norton anti-theft manage page has a new feature. LOST MODE. What is this? Another feature that does not work? I am scared to test this because it will lock my phone and I may not be able to unlock it. Locate, Scream, and Sneak Peek not working again. 07/05/2017, 00:17hrs.
It should not have removed the app from your phone. It would have removed the subscription information and should have left you with a trial version. If you remove the App Data at that point, when you sign back into your Norton Account, it would have re registered your device on the web page.
What you may be seeing is the recent changing of the control of subscriptions from the Google Play Store to Norton. You do not have to accept the auto renewal. You can always switch that off in your Norton Account.
Well that deleted my Mobile Security from my cell phone. Got the invite email to reinstall. Now it wants me to set up auto renewal. I do not want to renew something that does not work . Will download from Play Store. Nope, it is still installed. Did your source just want me to auto enroll? More Norton confusion.
I heard from my contacts, and they suggest a way to reset this problem.
Log into your Norton Account, and on the Devices page, click on the trash can beside the device that is not responding. Now go to your device and clear the App Data. Restart the device and sign back into your account.
This is supposed to get you back to 'normal'.
Please let me know if this works for you.
Sneak Peek not working. Locate not working, last location 5 days ago. Scream not working. Cannot change passcode. Shows TRIAL SUBSCRIPTION. Today 07/03/2017.
Mal
Good news. The reinstall was going to be my next suggestion.
Now check that all features are working on the device. If all is well, try signing into the web page and try the locate, scream and sneak peak commands.
uninstalled and reinstalled. Signed in.
Ok What Now?
I have checked network setting. Everything is on.
Tried that. Now I can't get to Sign In. Getting Error. "Problem Occurred while trying to communicate with server. Check network settings."
If the app is not working on the device, it cannot send any information to the web site. In this case, it sounds like we need to diagnose the app on your device.
What does and does not wok in the app?
I would start by going into the Norton Mobile Security, NMS app settings. Tap on the 3 bars at the top left of the NMS screen and tap on Settings. Scroll down to the Anti Theft section and turn off the Device Administrator setting. Now go to Android Settings - Apps. Scroll to the NMS app and clear the app cache and app Data. Restart the device and turn the Device Administrator setting back on. This will reset your NMS to a trial version. To get the full version back, open the NMS app, tap on the 3 bars at the top left, then tap Sign In. Enter your Norton Account information and you should have the full version again.
Then test to see if things work properly.
It works only on rare occasions.
Does the app work correctly on your device?
I have a Huawei H710VL. Android, UMUI version, cell phone. Support said androids should work With Mobile Security. What you got?
No, I do not work for Norton. Guru and Mobile Master are just titles given to some posters here that show a knowledge of the Norton products and a willingness to volunteer our time to try to help others. We do have access to Norton employees when an issue needs escalating. Employees do come to the forum, and can be identified by a red tag with Employee or Admin by their name.
I tried the features from my Norton Account and the worked correctly.
Not sure if it would be of any help, but have you restarted your device?
Yes. It is connected to the internet. They say Google is not sending location info. Peterweb , Mobile Master, do you work for Norton? What Norton contacts do you have?
Just to confirm, your device is connected to the internet while you try to scream or locate it?
This is the first I have heard of Google being involved/blamed for the issue. I'll pass this along to my Norton contacts again. Maybe the new piece of the puzzle, Google, will jog some action.
I have been having problems with Locate, Scream, Sneak Peek not working for months now. So many Chats sessions to get it fixed. Works sometimes. Norton blaming it on Goggle. They keep saying they are getting upper level support to work on this problem. No luck with that. They have extended my subscription. I'm tired trying to get them to fix it. Are there other Security phone finders out their that work? Please let me know. How can they sell something that does not work then blame it Google.
Good Luck
Well at least you’ve confirmed some issues with the website (although I think it goes beyond that due to SMS failing) and let me know about the refund policy. I consider that helping so thanks.
Sorry I could not have been any actual help.
