Hi - since installing Norton, I'm encountering a no. of annoying problems, which I have no idea how to sort out. Any help would be gratefully received:
1) unless I switch off Norton completely, I can't follow links, and I can't open more than one IE window.
2) everytime I log on it scans and tells me it there are problems (particularly something to do with DLL sharing??) and it creates a restore point.
3) when it boots up it tells me to insert a disk for a "SONIC" programme.
4) it keeps clearing my history, etc. prior to every reboot.
... not to mention the internet is v-e-r-y slow now.
Apologies - it's Norton Internet Security 2011. The product was bought over the internet.
1) I seem to able to open multiple internet windows provided I switch off 'safe surfing'
2) I have the scan up now and it is saying on five points either 'high-' or 'medium priority: Highlighted value is missing or invalid' (three at for 'shared DLLs' and the other two are for 'Shareaza', which I don't believe is even on my computer anymore).
3) And it is the 'Sonic Activation Module' programme that keeps asking for CD or other removable disk.
The copy of windows I have came with the Dell computer four years ago.
What security program did you have before NIS 2011? How was it removed before you installed NIS 2011? It sounds like you may have malware on your computer which might have been partially removed and in so doing may have damaged some necessary files.

Could you check the detailed Version ID: click on Support / About and the Version is there like 18.6.0.29 ....
When you bought it on the internet was it from a recognized store or online outlet, an authorized distributor for Norton, or did you buy it privately. I ask because there are reports coming in here from users finding invalid or used KEYs and sometimes this does not show up as a rejection by Norton immediately but only later when it may be too late to try to get a refund .... if you ever could ...
Regarding SONIC on boot up have you looked in the Startup to see what is being called for. If there's an entry there that relates to "SONIC" you can uncheck that and see if that stops the popup.
