No PC names on my multi-license account

I have a 10 license subscription but I never named the PC's, so as I retire a device and try to add a new one, how do I know which one I am deleting? Trial and error will not be a good response. Thanks.

If you have not yet set names for the computers in Windows, this may solve your problem. Click the Windows key + Pause key. Then click on the Change  Settings link in the Computer name section. Then in the Computer Description box you can enter a name you can recognise. Then restart your computer and log into Norton Management to see if it picked up the new name.

If you are not able to figure out which computer is which, log into Norton Management   www.manage.norton.com  from each machine. On the My Devices tab and see if you can identify that computer from the online status. Then you click on the little pencil icon beside that computer. This will allow you to assign a recognizable name for each system.

Until you do this, the only way to identify each system is to closely scrutinize the names given by Norton and see if there is anything at all that will identify the systems.

Hi Bernieb

The main board has a unique number that Norton uses to identify the machine, which a Norton representative may have access to, try live chat on the link below.  It may mean using live chat on each machine you want to retire Norton on or finding the main board numbers you want retired and presenting this list from any machine to a Norton representative.

Thanks. That's a lot of work, and it would probably easier to just cancel the service at the expiration date and start over again. Of course, there's no guarantee that would also be with Norton. The alternative is to just keep buying mnore licenses because I didn't do something specific years ago when I first bought the 10-pack.

Hi bernieb,

If you are using Norton Management, Norton will fill in the name of your computer for you - it uses the NetBIOS name (computer name) of the computer by default.   This is the computer name peterweb guided you to in his instructions for changing the name.

Thus the name of your computer will be whatever is listed - if you have not changed it.

Start > right click on Computer > Select Properties (or follow peterwebs guidance) that system will be listed in Norton management by the "computer name".

Now when I try to sign in all I get is

Norton Management:                        An Error Occurred

Is it me, or has the web-site been broken since yesterday morning?

FWIW - I can get into Norton Management  just fine.
