Hello.
I am encountering 0 download times for large files with my common download manager.
The latest post I accessed was dated 2009. As stated in that post, this problem appeared suddenly after use of this program for several weeks. It appears that NIS has somehow started blocking these downloads. I have made no changes to my computer during this time.
Are the fix instructions precisely the same today as when the 2009 post appeared? I am essentially a computer novice and thus request simple instructions.
Also, why did this problem appear after several sucessful downloads? This information would be useful if the difficulty appears again.
Thanks in advance.

There has been no response to my post. Does this mean nobody has any idea how to fix this problem?
I attempted to set port forwarding according to the instructions listed in the above-mentioned post. There was no change in my download speed (still 0).
However, next time I booted my computer, the icon in the top right hand corner showed "Secure", although the smaller icons were missing. Problems were encountered accessing certain websites. I could not open Norton from the desktop, and got the message 'Norton Error 8504, 100', 'Norton Failed To Initialize'. Does this have any significance to anyone?
I must assume all this occurred due to my attempt at port forwarding, although I followed the instructions precisely.
I am not using a router, although I do have a printer connected to my desktop. I do not understand why port forwarding should be necessary.
Please help. I have nowhere else to turn.
