My children both have Facebook accounts that they access daily per the Web activity report. However, the last logged activity on the Social tab for both is August 25. The “Show questionable activity” option is unchecked. I also checked the settings to verify that supervision is turned on. What happened to this log?
Hi GRome,
What you described was on the Social Activity tab. Do you see any entries under Setting -> Social? What is the “Last Visit” on this page?
Thanks,
KatieHi GRome,
Please also see if the following KnowledgeBase article helps:
Important Note: Social Networking Supervision is supported only on Microsoft Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox. If your children are using any other browser then their social activities will not be monitored/reported.

Syed
Hi GRome,
Please note that we have identified an issue with Facebook. We have been able to reproduce the issue (facebook activities not being reported) and we are working on it. We will keep you posted here on the progress.
Regards,
Syed
Sorry for not responding earlier, but we were away for the weekend.
Under Setting->Social, the last entry was also on August 25th (if that'll help resolve the Facebook issue that Syed mentioned).
Thank you GRome, for providing the information. Please note that we have been successful in identifying cause and possible solution. I will update here once solution is available.
Hi GRome,
Thank you for your patience. Please note that this issue is resolved now. Facebook social activities should be reported fine now.
Let us know if you are still facing the issue.
Regards,
Syed
Unfortunately the issue is not resolved. After getting a number of e-mails yesterday stating that an activity in Facebook was blocked, I went to check on my children’s PC activity. There’s still no Activity reported in the Social tab since August and when I checked through the Settings->Social, the only item reported is that one child had created a new Facebook account on September 18th (for which I also got an e-mail). Again, my children access Facebook almost daily.
Hi GRome,
Please tell us what version of Norton Safety Minder that you have installed on the PC?
Thanks,
Katie
Both PCs are running NSM 1.1.5.15 since 9/30. What's interesting is that the older PC that's running XP Pro SP2 updated on its own (I don't know when), whereas the new PC running Vista Home Premium 64-bit I had to download and re-install to get to this version.
Since then, NSM has not logged any Social activity for my daughter at either the Activity and Setting pages (last reported activity is 8/25), but she has visited FaceBook everyday since 9/30 per Web activity (except yesterday - banned from the PCs for not doing her homework). For my son it has reported Social activity since 9/30, but doesn't have anything for 10/3 (but Web activity reports that he visited FaceBook that day).
I'm running NIS 2009 on both PCs and there is a distinct LiveUpdate link that when I click on it, forces an immediate search for any updates to NIS and then installs them. However, this LiveUpdate apparently is not linked to NSM as I tried it before having to do the re-install I mentioned earlier. Now I noticed on some other threads that there is a LiveUpdate feature on NSM, but I can't seem to find it -- where is it if it exists (I've clicked on the About in the NSM dog paw on the taskbar and haven't seen it)?
GRome,
Please make sure the Social Network Supervision is On under Settings -> Social.
Thanks,
Katie
Social Network Supervision is (and has been) On under Settings -> Social for both children. I have never disabled it.
GRome,

I have never gotten Facebook chats to be able to be seen. In Settings, all the Social Networking Supervision is turn on, in the Instant Messaging Settings Chat Supervision is on for all users.
If I go into Activities and then Social, I can see that the children have been on Facebook (they are every day) but when I go to Instant Messaging, it says No Activity. Using 1.1.15 version
gwilliamhouse,
The Social Networking Supervision captures any attempt to provide a false age during the registration process and the account name that the child uses. Also, the program monitors and logs the Personally Identifiable Information (PII) that the child provides over the social networking site. Currently, the program doesn't monitor chats on the social networks, and this function is on our enhancement list.
Thanks,
Katie
In other words, there is no social activity monitering. there is the personal Information monitoring, but that is covered in a different area. The software at the moment only logs the email address, and age they use, and when they log on. Thats it.
Hope that was helpful.
