What Date does your Protection Updates show?

You can upgrade to NIS 2009 for free. Are you using any other security products?

Is your NIS 2008 subscription still valid or has it expired?

Have a look in Control Panel and see if you have Symantec Live Update there. If you do, look for it in the list of programs when you examine the contents of your hard drive, say using Windows Explorer, and find the file Luall.exe. Double click that file to run Live Update Manually and see if that helps.

But if your subscription is still valid then consider the free download to update to NIS 2009
