Non English Product Update Emails + Posts Here

I can't see that this has been mentioned previously but if it has will someone please direct me to it.

Recently I've received emails from Admin about product updates in French and German and posts on here have also been in these languages.  My Norton language is English and as far as I am aware any communications from Norton to me are supposed to be in English as id this forum.

Can someone please explain what is happening and why?

Just received  another one   21-Jan-2019 | 9:42AM: Beate created Norton Password Manager 6.2 für iOS steht jetzt zur Verfügung!

ALF60:

Just received 6 product update posts most are not in my language(English) and about the same product (Norton family, Norton secure vpn. and the latest  Norton security. They are from a Norton employee by the the name of  Beate  on January 21 form 5:05 AM to 5:19 AM EST

I received the same batch of German-language notifications today.  I also noticed that one of the announcements was for Norton Safe Web v3.3.1.4 (released 29-Nov-2018) even though newer versions v3.3.1.7 and v3.4.0.4 have been released since then.

Is someone going back and providing non-English translations for older updates, or does it just take that long for Norton to release non-English versions of the user interfaces for some of these products? If Norton is going back and translating product update announcements for out-of-date software perhaps this should wait until the site developers have figured out how to send out translated notifications that match the user's preferred language.

What I understand is happening here is that I subscribed to the Product Announcements Blog, to I would have current information about product updates. What the forum dev team has recently set up is that the same announcements are translated into other languages (French and German that I have seen) and are getting posted to the same blog. That is why you get the multi language email notifications.

Personally I do not see a major problem with deleting one or two emails. It is much less than the spam that I have to deal with.

I have asked the dev team if they are going to put this back the way it was. I'll let you know if I hear anything useful.

Hi peterdh

Yes, I have looked as deeply as I can and found nothing.  In my account subscriptions page the only thing I am subscribed to is this particular thread.

I’ll keep trying, but I am annoyed that Norton have just left it to us to sort this out, and spend my time digging about like some e-archaeologist, trying to find this elusive thing.

Hi Myrms1

Have you logged in to your account and checked ALL your preferences etc including the Blogs heading.  I too hadn't subscribed to any Frenchn language subscriptions but got the French and German (once) blog re product update announcements for Android (or something similar).  When I logged in to my account and delved quite deeply into all the various headings listed there I found that my account listed me as being subscribed for these things.  How this happened I don't know but I unsubscribed everything I could find and haven't been troubled since.

Unfortunately I can't remember exactly what I did so I can't guide you further but if you do as I suggest (and dig deep) you may well find the answer.  When I last spoke to Admin I was assured that it was being sorted so I find it a little suprising if there are still instances where these emails are still being sent out.  It does however suggest to me that digging into your account settings may provide the answer.

Let us know how you get on please and if this idea has been of any use.

I too have been receiving these French product emails and I am sick of it!   There are no unsubscribing options on the emails I receive.  Looking in my account settings I have not subscribed to any French topics.  I don’t understand the language, so why would I?

Yes peterweb.  In the meantime I have been speaking (messaging) Admin who were aware of the problem and are threatening to do something about it.  Therefore I can also confirm that it is just a glitch and will be sorted in time.  It had me utterly confused for a while though and the reference to Norton Password Manager seems to me to be a bit of a red herring as my only experience of them was via emails in the product announcement updates.

Hi peterdh

That thread noted Norton Password Manager as that was the first time the multi language postings were being made to the Product Announcements Blog. My post in that thread clarified what Norton has said about these multi language posts in that board.

Hi Guillaume

Thanks for the response but as this post refers to Norton Password Manager I don't think it relates to this problem even though it may be an interesting read (in French) which I'm not too good with.

Hi Peterdh,

I invit you to read this thread which is on the same subject : https://community.norton.com/en/forums/en-cas-de-questions-veuillez-cr%C3%A9er-un-fil-de-discussion.

The title is indeed not really explicit.

Have a good reading.
