Non-Existent Support

I recently "upgraded" from Norton Antivirus to Norton 36o.  The installation failed and I received error message 1805.105.  I then made the mistake of seeking help from Norton.  Within a few minutes the Norton technician (acting remotely) had deleted various files from my computer.  At the end of the chat, my computer had been rendered unusable (could not log into Windows).  Be very careful installing this program and avoid Norton "hel p"  Any one else have this problem?
