I have been using Norton Internet Security 2006 with Windows XP professional for several years with no problems so I have never bothered to update. I just keep my subscription current and it runs pretty good. Now I am having several problems with a limited user account for my teenanger. The 1st problem is that she was unable to open any Microsoft Office files because there was a Norton error that said it was unable to scan because "some coomponents may be missing". This is not a problem on the Aministrator account but unchecking the Office Plug-In option solved that problem.
The next issue is with Parental Control. She was trying to log on to her bank website initially which she did fine, but the 2nd time we went to the website it said it was restriced under the Parental Controls Finance Category. The Finance Category was NOT selected in Parental COntrols. I decided to do a re-install and ended up with the same problem. I finally added the website directly in the exclusions and it works fine now.
Last ongoing issue I have is that it now constantly shows that there is a problem with Norton and needs attention. The problem says that the Virus Definitions have not been updated for awile even though I just did update. Once again this only shows as an issue on the limited user account. I don't have any of these problems on the administrator user account.
Any thoughts ?
