ok either this product is extremely buggy or im just not doing something right here
Before i installed the norton, everything with the comp was just fine...after i installed it...
links in some websites dont work, web pages are finished loading when it obviously isnt, links dont work, webs flashes are gone ( like in news pages where topic changes every few secs arent dont, thus i have to refresh to see news topic), and i cant access programs on webs cause they REQUIRE I CLICK ON A LINK but it seems that it blocks it somehow and all the pop-ups are gone, also web banners ads or any other things like youtube where the promotional videos stop rotating out, and yahoo mail interface is all screwed up.
what is going on here, i understand that Norton 2008 doesnt have a "pop-up blocker" but i have done almost everything except uninstalling and returning this ****. i have configured my IE pop settings, erased internet temp. files, cookies, made websites "trusted webs", essentially everything to make sure its not the comp......and it seems that Norton somehow changed my settings??????!!!!
somebody help cause this is very annoying and i need to access some webs and use some programs.
Might help troubleshooting to know:
What version of Windows you are using and what browser if it is not Internet Explorer.
Did you get the copy of "Norton 2008" by downloading it or by buying a retail package?I would not trust an older copy of SymNRT to be able to remove all the latest patches to the software. Since Norton are updating their products all the time, the Norton Removal Tool is constantly updated.
What AntiVirus/Security did you have installed before you installed "Norton 2008" and is that Norton AntiVIrus or Norton Internet Security?
When you intalled "Norton 2008" did you remove any previous applications or "install on top of"?
You might consider cleaning up with the Norton Removal Tool and then downloading the new "Norton 2009" which you can use for the duration of your existing "Norton 2008" subscription. This link: Symantec Norton Removal Tool. will direct you to the current Symantec Norton Removal Tool. NOTE that this tool will remove all Norton applications not just one that you want to get rid of so do not use it if you have other Norton applications installed even such as GHOST or Save & Restore ...
i wouldnt be wasting my time to go to the forums if the help and support was any good.
the only antivirus program was McAfee
and i have already tried reinstalling it and what not but that was no help either
it is 2008 basic edition that came with internet security
sry for double post but i have a windows xp and i use IE 7 or 9 cant remember
and no i dont think ill get 2009 due to high negativity toward it by respectable peers that all have very degrading opinions about it.
There is no IE 9. Simply click Help under the tab tab of IE and you will get your version. What negativity are you talking about? Have you read the reviews? NIS 2009 is the bets out there. Who told you different. Jealous KAV users? Norton 2009 also got a99% rating in AV Comparatives. Almost a perfect score. Also its best to use Firefox over IE.

Well since IE 8 is only in Beta I doubt you have IE9
Can you please point us to published remarks by repectable peers on "Norton 2009" that have degrading opinions since I've not seen any.
I suggest you either become open to suggestions on how to deal with a problem you have raised -- one that is so diffuse that it is unlikely to come just from installing a Norton product even if it is not the latest -- or forget about asking.
If you'd like help, just say so. If you just want to vent we can get on with helping other people.

That does not answer the questions I asked. I did not ask you if you had reinstalled a previous program but asked if you had removed it before installing "Norton 2008"
You also have not said in any clear form what version of a Norton product you are trying to use. " 2008 basic edition that came with internet security" does not describe a specific product although "basic" is a word associated with Norton System Works.
Please give meaningful answers to questions -- we ask them for a purpose.
Norton AntiVirus
Norton Internet Security
Norton System Works
Which of these are you using?
01.Also, were you using any other Norton Security Product when you were installing?
02. And, did you have any other Security Product other than Norton installed when you installed?
Could you please answer these questions; we are trying to help as well as the ones huwyngr asked.
i like to apologize for the inaccuracy of my statements and the wait to reply, the comp doesnt allow me to sign in, and click on teh reply button. thus i have to use my friends comp and i was in a hurry (he had to use it)
good news is that i was able to fix the problem, had to load a script that was stripped away (seems that when norton was installed that comp just deleted it or something)
appreciate the help but it is solved
had system works, no never had any norton product installed prior except Mcafee (which isnt norton)
Glad you resolved it …

Norton SystemWorks users have had a "Patch" Released so that Updates are received through Norton LiveUpdate, i.e. your Norton Internet Security 2009 Product.16. Once you have done all that, I would strongly suggest you run a Full System Scan in Safe Mode.
