Why not use the Norton Removal Tool and then re-install your Product? Just type in “Norton Removal Tool” in to the Search box at the top-right-hand-side of this Web Page and Select the “Download and Run the Norton Removal Tool”.
Here it is Norton Removal Tool
Can you expand on your problem where you state " it is not allowing me to use You-Tube or play flash games and is affecting my Facebook"
Are you receiving any alerts for Norton? If so, can you include those in your post.
Is it affecting ALL vidoes and all flash games or specific ones? Please include more detials for those.
How is it affecting your Facebook?
Thanks,
John Harrison,

Hi Skirtingboard01,
Welcome to the forum!
Sorry to hear your installation did not give you the results you wanted. Fortunately, this seems solvable (is that a word?).
Floating_Red suggested that you pull the installation using the norton removal tool. It's your call as to what you want to do.
I'm not keen to go medieval on the installation until we identify what is going on ... and based on what you posted, there may be a number of quite harmless reasons to explain this behaviour. My advice is to hold off using the NRT for the moment. It's possible that we may end up using it down the track but we are nowhere ner that point yet.
Can you please provide more info?
You say that you downloaded NIS 2008 and now "it" won't let you use you-tube or play flash games and some aspects of Facebook are affected. These are specific signs & symptoms that point to what is happening. BTW - when you say download you mean installed, right? They are not the same thing. I mean no disrespect to you - I'm just trying to better understand your situation.
Operating system - service packs / updates? Browser (version) - type? What is your NIS 2008 version (for completeness)?
Out of curiosity, have you changed anything else on your system other than the NIS 2008 installation? For example, are you using FF 3 and installed an add-on to control flash scripts / advertisements etc? Has anyone other than you altered the system? Are you the only person using the system and do you have admin rights (assumes XP PRO or VISTA)?
Look forward to hearing from you soon. In the meantime, you lucked out by finding this forum. There is a wide range of contributors with differing skills and backgrounds who are ready to work with you and the Symantec support folk to solve your problem. Sometimes we get sidetracked during discussions and get herded back on track ... it's all good. The Symantec support folk are really very good at what they do.
All of us have been in your situation and have some idea about how frustrating it can be. It makes the world of difference if you can treat people respectfully - work the problem and not the person. It can be difficult at times - I've made a fool of myself too many times for comfort (no doubt so too have others).
Use the forum as a living resource and by all means please speak up about how we can all improve things.
Cheers and hope to catch up with you later.
Thank you all for taking the time to help me, I get Norton online and downloaded the new version last week. It allows me to play msn games but not yahoo flash games or watch any youtube videos, on my facebook it will not allow me to watch messages sent which are I have realised are from youtube. Norton is giving me no prompts as to whether I should allow youtube or the games to be downloaded. Thank you all again for your help-i’m not great with computer security!
I agree that using the Norton Removal Tool as a “catch all” solution to a problem is not the way to go. In some specific situations it is recommended, but for the most part, we would only recommend this as a solution if there were no other way to get the product off your system cleanly. Thanks to mcullet for illustrating that point.
