norton 2009 update problem

well today I did normal windows update and norton 2009 update.Was required to reboot. did that and ran antivirus scan as usual. Got  “windows host process (rundll32) has stopped working”. Got message twice then blue screen and dump. Restored computer and did no updates.(no windows update also)…scanned with no problems. this is on 2 computers…both vista ultimate 32 bit.one a laptop and one desktop. did nortons update and scan provided same results. Now have done intelligent updater and got same result on other computer. Restored both systems again and again scanned without doing any updates. Both systems now have norton  updates turned off and windows update done and all working fine. problems are with the norton update and as intelligent updater does same problem to occur suggest prob is in definition updates. Please try to solve this problem as I do not wish again to use another antivirus as I had to do with nav 2008.both my computers are on 24hrs a day and in constant use.
