Success - I think - Deleted Java and then reloaded Java, Defragged even though told it wasn't needed when I went to defrag, Just turned off silent mode and waited for idle time to happen. Had set all background checks to run including optimizer. Everything ran and Optimizer ran to completion 7 minutes +. So.........................I have turned off Optimizer now. Hopefully I am all set. Thanks for the heads up that Optimizer will keep coming on regardless of settings until it completes its "work". Definitely a stubborn "critter"... so when it was seizing up it just waited to the next opportunity to try again.
Hopefully Norton will come up with an update that allows one to turn it optimizer even if it has not completed its work as they have done with the "turn off scan compressed files" command when things were seizing up on full scans. I had this happen earlier and when you click on support the first thing that comes up on the screen is "turn off scan compressed files" and try a full scan again and that solves the issue.
Anyhow thanks for everyones suggestions, help and support! As I said earlier I am NOT a techie by any means but you all worked me through to a solution that appears to have solved the issue!!!!
