I just purchased a new computer (Emachine with a Windows 7 OS) less than a month ago which had a 30 day free subscription of Norton. So yesterday I decided to renew with Norton 2011 IS, and part way through the first full system scan, everything shut down. When I try to reboot now, it just goes to a black screen….
I tried to open in safe mode to remove the install but I cannot even get into safe mode anymore. I called customer support at Symantec who told me to try safe mode, when I broke the news to her that it’s no longer an option, she said it sounds sorry and that I should probably take it to a computer repair shop (basically spend another $100+ dollars as a result of correctly using the Norton product I just spent $60 on).
Currently trying to call back customer support after I spoke to Geek Squad (who said it was most definitely Norton as they have dealt with this many other times) and I am now surpassing the one hour make on hold…..
Does anyone have any ideas on this one, or is go spend more money my only option….
