Norton 2011 system idle scan full system scan while I am already running full system scan

The thing is, if I walk away from my computer just to warm up a cup of java, if the mouse is not moving sometimes Norton starts an automatic scan, I like that they put this feature in called Silent Mode, but I forget to set it to stay on silent mode all day or until I restart the compute. I like the way Norton lets me know if my browser or some other program is using too many resources but if I didn't run the programs life would be very boreing.

Task Manager in Windows says CPU usage is at 100 percent. So is that why I need a new PC?

Hi lookat,

OK - you got me confused.  Your post has almost nothing  to do with the title of the thread.

As for the 100% CPU, I would suggest looking on the Processes Tab of Task Manager and see which process is eating up the most CPU's and start your troubleshooting there.
