Norton 2012 Pulse Updates & Automatic Norton LiveUpdate

Hi,

 

When I turn off Automatic Update, Pulse Update also goes off; please could this be changed so that users who do not want Automatic Norton LiveUpdate on can have Pulse Updates on, like in Norton 2011 Products.  I believe this to be a fault with the product.  Many Thanks.

I just checked with a 2011 installation, and this is the same behavior. Unfortunately, Pulse Updates are a form of Automatic LiveUpdate, so this is supposed to function this way.

In the 2011 Version I could have Pulse Updates On yet have Automatic Update off.  These are both listed as different Tasks so I don't see the issue with having Pulse Updates Run yet have Automatic LiveUpdate off.

With 2011, it's the reverse of what you are saying.  When I turned off automatic update, the pulse update is greyed out at whatever setting it is on.  That implies it is off altogether.

 

When automatic update is turned back on, pulse update can be set to on or off.

I know that Pulse Update gets greyed out once you turn off Automatic Norton LiveUpdate, but when Pulse Updates is Set to ON when Auto. LiveUpdate is Off, Pulse Updates still Run.  I suggest you try this; it does work even although Pulse Updates are greyed out.
