Has anyone else noticed an increase in scan times or changed scan performance since updating to 22.24.1.6?
I'm running Norton 360 under Windows 11 Pro (22H2) on a Dell Optiplex 5090 with 512MB SSD plus 1TB HDD. The HDD mainly holds my music folders, which I have excluded from scans.
Prior to the update, Quick Scans typically took 29-30 seconds. Since the update the run time is now 39-41 seconds but the number of items scanned remains the same at around 12,300. The number of trusted and skipped files is also pretty much the same as before.
Full Scan times have increased from around 4 minutes to just over 5 minutes but the Full Scans are scanning significantly more files. Prior to the update, Full Scans were reported as scanning 250,000 items with around 45,000 trusted files. Now the scan total is around 410, 000 (a max of 470,000 on one manual scan) and the trusted file count has increased to 135,000 - 140,000. Skipped file count has not increased.
I have checked that the increased number of files scanned is not due to my exclusions being ignored as the excluded music folders contain only around 23,000 items.
Yesterday I received the further update to 22.24.2.6 but that has not changed the situation. Quick scans are still taking longer than before the 22.24.1.6 update and Full Scans still scanning significantly more items than before.
No change with last night's Full Scan. Still finding significantly more items to scan than before the update. Scan took exactly 5 minutes and scanned 419,000 items, with 134,000 trusted files and 8,000 skipped files. As per my initial post, prior to 22.24.1.6 update typical figures were 250,000 items scanned and 45,000 trusted files.
Noticed same thing following last update. I'm on Hard drive system drive and scans will take take longer anyway, I have 4-5 times the number of files to scan. Quick scans are recorded as taking from just over a minute prior to update to over 4 minutes now although this only scans some system files, not data files. One thing I have noticed, prior to update, there still would be disc activity for a further few minutes, taking total disc activity of 6 - 7 minutes, now, even after recorded duration being longer, total disc activity is about the same as was. Have not done full scan for a couple of months, so don't know what difference would be.
