Hai, same problem here.. I'm using XP sp3 and N360 v.2.1.0.5.  English version. Could everbody help me please to solve this problem?? Many thanks..

I keep on getting the LU1812 everytime when I run LiveUpdate and when it try's to install Norton 360 2008 Program Update (English) it fails to update. Used every kind of solution there is on the forum but it keeps on getting the error tried already reinstalling Norton 360 like 3 times trying to stop getting the error.

Im running NORTON 360 (italiano) 2.1.0.5  on Windows XP with Service Pack 3 + NORTON GHOST 14.0

Are you still seeing this error when trying to download the latest Norton 360 v2 updates? If so, I would recommend contacting our Customer Support team to help resolve this issue:

Please let me know if you've already tried this solution and were unable to get the latest update. Thanks!

Hi, I did something really simple. I went to http://www.symantec.com/business/security_response/definitions/download/detail.jsp?gid=n95 , located my Norton version and downloaded my updates.  It worked beautifully.  Actually, I downloaded a few different ones just to make sure that I got the right one.  Mine has been work well ever since.  I hope this helps.

I am still having this problem.  I contacted Symantec Tech Support on 10-22-08, and after two 3+ hour remote control sessions, they concluded that it was a faulty update.

Run One Click Support.

If that does not fix the issue, then reinstall LiveUpdate.

I have exactly the same problem with two PC's, one running XP SP3 and the other Vista SP1 - see this thread;

http://community.norton.com/norton/board/message?board.id=Norton_360&thread.id=5440

I've followed every piece piece of advice I can find including uninstalling (using Norton Removal Tool) Norton 360 on 8 occasions and reinstalling, uninstalling Live Update etc etc. What makes this worse is that I had the problem with the same machines before my subscription expired and the continuing problem is now with new software (it was cheaper to buy a new version of 360 than renew my subscription with the old version).

I'm sorry you're having problems but relieved to find it's not just me - there is a fundamental problem with this update and Symantec need to address it.

Does anybody have a workable solution to this problem?

Hi arch4health,

I have had these kinds of error-codes some 6 month ago when installing

XP SP3 and Vista SP1.

Could you reply here on how you have installed the SP´s on your systems,

over N360, or on a Norton -free system.

I have found the way of installing the two SP´s important to get a working

installation of both N360 and NIS 2008/2009.

I am waiting for your reply.

Hi Kurt

Thanks for your message.

The good news is that the XP machine has sorted itself out - I don't know how - but the bad news is that I've spent 5 hours today in 'one to one' chats with 4 different Symantec technicians (two of them managed to disconnect me) who have all accessed my PC remotely but been unable to resolve the problem. Having watched what they were doing there was little I hadn't already tried.

I've had 360 for just over a year and as I think Vista SP1 was released this year, it must have been installed on to the PC when Norton was on it. However, I have done a subsequent clean install when I think 360 was loaded after Vista was upgraded to SP1 - so I've done both!

It's worth noting that the problem first appeared a few weeks ago - however, as my 360 subscription was about to expire I disregarded the problem. When the subscription actually expired I uninstalled 360 (originally v1 but upgraded via updates to v2 during the year) and then installed a new version from a new full version I bought (cheaper than renewing the subscription!). Since then I've uninstalled it eight times and uninstalled Live Update four times (twice by Symantec technicians) in an effort to resolve the problem.

If you have any ideas for resolving this I'd be grateful.

Thanks.

Hi arch4health,

Have you tried what "SBD" has proposed:

When I end up in such difficult or even impossible situations like the one you are facing, I use my option

in a full system backup and restore software.

This gives me the possibillity to restore my total system to a time where the error or the behavior is not present.

By that I save a hell of a lot of energy, and can go on by simply updating my security softwares and Windows.

The complexity of the modern OS and security applications forces us to find ways to a working installation of new softwares and simple updates.

Otherwise we will end up wasting time and energy on impossible tasks, instead of having fun using the internet.

My visits to Symantec support are very rear over the last years because of this backup and restore option.

Hi arch4health,

I am at the moment using Ghost 14 and Norton Save and Restore ver.2.0 to backup and restore my

2 systems.

You can find many other softwares with the same functions when visiting an online store.

Hi Kurt

Thanks for your latest message. Yes I tried SBD's suggestion (and so did the Symantec technicians) but it had no effect.

I'm coming round to the idea that a clean reinstallation of everything may be the only way forward but I'll give it a week or so and see if the next Security update over comes the problem.

Hi arch4health, Have you had any betas installed on this system, it is probably the only way to get a working installation and do a “clean boot”. It is also a recovery to the very basic stat. Do try a backup/recovery software, by that you will simplify securing your data. I learned long ago -“first copy, after that you can start working on your data”. This is still valid. Good luck !!

Hi arch4health,

The backup/recovery software takes care of the more difficult

situations, like system crashes and alike, where a "clean boot" wipes away

everything you have on your system.

This is really frustrating and not good for your health.

Hi All

A clean install resolved this problem.

Hi arch4health,

Very good info to read !!

A "Clean Boot" takes away some not wanted leftovers from prevous installations,

upgrades and updates.

I used my recovery software when the latest Microsoft out-of-band update was installed.

It ended up in a not functioning Windows Explorer = not usable system.

We have used 2 methods of getting back to a working system.

and …is working??
