Hi ialexandra73,
Yes, both systems are working again.
Please, read the earlier replies on how to do.
I have been trying for 3 days to get 360.ver2 to install and update. Error LU1812. I have had two service technicians try to fix it.
see 090113-006518, 090114-03212. I can no longer connect to customer support, error 1316 when trying to run Symantec_Advanced_Chat.msi i have tried all the listed fixes several times. I am running XP update 3 with a dual boot. I also downloaded the Premier version on a trial version, same problem. I have been using Norton Ghost for backups and no longer have it on either system.
I did get 360 to run on one of the dual boot XP's this morning but not on the other. I have no idea why it began running correctly. I did nothing different.
It did install OK on my laptop and update.
Is there any fix for this problem?
Is Ghost compatible with 360?
Should I try the Beta of version 3.0 on the other boot?
Should I use anti virus 2009 on the other XP boot?
I need protection on both systems.
help!!!
Hello again, htaylor.
If you are still on V2 on either of your machines, can you provide me with the data found in the following registry key?:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\GEARAspiWDM\DriverInfo
Thanks,
Matt
I have been trying a Windows 7 beta for a few days on my dual boot system. However I plan to uninstall it soon and put XP pro back on. When I do and try 360 again I will update you. I am not ready for Windows 7 yet. Too many problems with legacy software and hardware for me at this point. I want to use the 360 beta a bit more before I change back.
Hey hytaylor,
Thank you very much for your response. We look forward to hearing from you when you are back on XP pro. By the way, if you have any feedback about the N360 beta, please feel free to post in Norton 360 Public Beta board.
Cheers,

I have reinstalled XP Pro on my dual boot machine. on the new install 360 v2 worked fine. I also installed Ghost 14 and it updated ok. The plan is to install new programs and after each new program try luall and see if it updated correctly.
On the main XP pro boot, I installed Ghost 14 and updated it with luall and got the error LU1812. It was working correctly yesterday without Ghost.
Here is the information requested on the registry key
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
I unstalled (using windows unstaller) Ghost and still have the Lu1812 error. I will uninstall all Norton products and then reinstall 360 v2 and see what happens.
I checked the new install on Norton 360 and Ghost on the dual boot and they are still working.
The requested Registry key on the working machine is:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

Can anyone help with this problem?, I've upgraded my security to Norton 360 2.0 and one update is giving me a problem, LU1812 just will not install, I've done everything in the book, uninstalling, reinstalling, running the live update from the run on the start menu (luall) and I've had remote support to try and sort it out but nothing I've done will install this update, Is this update important? if it's not installed will it give security problems? any ideas? Hello TomV OK I'll check it out, thing is I've uninstalled 360 and gone back to NIS2009 (Yes I'm subscribed to both) and I'll be honest, I much prefer the NIS2009 program because it's more interactive by that I mean I can set it up the way I want the program to run, 360 is just not hands on enough for me, that's not to say 360 is not a very good security program, I just prefer NIS2009 and I've got it running on three Computers at the moment, so 360 is a standby, I'll be updating my NIS2009 subscription later in the year, so I suppose the LU1812 issue is now obsolete so to speak, but thanks for taking time to contact me. You're always welcome.

Hello TomV I’ve checked out the problem (LU1812) fix you forwarded and I’ll keep it on file for use in the future should the need arise, thank you for that, as I pointed out, I’m now running NIS 09 on my Computers, but all info about Norton products is worth having on file, I’m going back to checking out other stuff on the Norton Community web now, DaveS596-XE1
I've been having the same issue with Norton 360 2.0. I've been having it for a while, but only just found this thread a few weeks ago. Since then, I've gone through it and tried the various proposed fixes, including a full uninstall and re-install, to no avail.
I also just downloaded and installed 20090215-002-v5i32.exe from http://www.symantec.com/business/security_response/definitions/download/detail.jsp?gid=n95, restarted, and it has not resolved the problem. Running luall gets me a LU1812 when it try's to install Norton 360 2008 Program Update (English).
Is anyone else still seeing this problem? Any other suggestions?
Thanks,
Ramon
Hi Reggy Yes LU1812 seems to be a problem for many people who have 360 2.0, I did the same as you and like your self I had the same error (LU1812) return, but I solved the problem, I took 360 off my Computers and reinstalled NIS 2009 not because of the 1812 problem but because I like NIS 09 a lot more, it's a lot more interactive and hands on, I would say that Norton should look into the 1812 issue and find out just what the problem is, thing is Reggy if you have never had NIS 2009 and if you can afford it I think you would be a lot happier with NIS 09, I've had a number of top name security programs running on my Computers in the past and I have to say that NIS 09 is by far the most complete security program I've ever had, that's not to say that 360 isn't, but if you like setting up your security to run the way you want it to then NIS 09 is a must have, if you need any more info about NIS 09 get in touch. DaveS596-XE1
After poking around some of the other LU1812 threads, I found this one: http://community.norton.com/norton/board/message?board.id=Norton_360&view=by_date_ascending&message.id=3541#M3541
I ran that patchid program and it produced, against Norton 360 v2.5.0.5:
------------------------------
LiveUpdate Failed Patch Identification
Identify failed LiveUpdate patches
Automated Task Completed Successfully.
LuComServer version : 3.4.1.238
Patch error(s) found : 1
Failing patch(es):1223330807jtun_gear0304.x00.full.zip
------------------------------
Is that possible related? Any suggestions how to resolve this?
Thx, Ramon

The thing is we do not know what you have read and what you have applied. As a starter please look at this forum msg
"360 2.0 keeps giving same liveupdate error"
There is an updater available.
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/norton360.nsf/0/4065bc926ae628226525736a0070b3e9?OpenDocument
But I would also suggest running Luall when you have turned off sym tamper protection,
If you still have no luck, try
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/sharedtech.nsf/0/fe131a868ddab79b88256af5007d209d?OpenDocument
Finally, you should look here

as this is specific to your error msg.
