Situation...have 15 days left on 3.0 install (no problems), Windows Defender virus/firewall ON. Loading 4.0 from CD....
Question, Do I have to uninstall 3.0 before loading 4.0? Should I wait until 3.0 expires?
The 4.0 loading appears to proceed but then no call for validation. Also 4.0 does not appear on list of installed programs.Is it as my leaving Defender active?

Yes, you should use the Norton Removal Tool (www.norton.com/nrt) between the two installations.
Should I wait until 3.0 expires?
There's no need. As Norton security products are subscription based ones, you can always download the newer versions until your subscription is live.
