Norton 360 6.4.1.14 freezes during full scan and reinstalls itself

Hey,

Within the last two days during a daily full scan of my desktop system I noticed that my computer had completely froze up.  No matter what I did the computer did not unfreeze so I ended up cutting power completely to restart it.  After restarting my system I tried to do a full scan again and about half way through again the desktop ended up freezing.  Again I restarted my desktop but this time Norton said that I was at risk and all protection had been disabled!  Right after I was about to go to troubleshoot the issue Norton reinstalled itself and said that everything was secure so I tried running a Quick Scan and everything came back clean.  I also started to run Norton Power Eraser and again it stated that there where No Risks Found but everytime I run a Full System Scan it tends to freeze up half way through.  The only time the Full System Scan ran perfectly was in Safe Mode but other than that I don't know whats going on.  Another issue was while I was on Facebook I was uploading some pictures when I was suddenly logged out.  I tried logging back in but the page was completely different and was in another language.  I'm not sure if this was another trick to take over my machine or if it was just another Facebook change.  Either way I have become very suspicious of what is going on with my computer and I wanted some input from you guys.

I am using Windows Vista Home Premium

Intel(R) Pentium(R) Dual CPU E2220 @ 2.40GHz

4.00 GB RAM

64-bit Operating System

Web browser is Safari 5.1.7 (7534.57.2)

Any help from you guys will be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

Thanks for your suggestion! Yes I have everything up to date. I have not done any downloading or going to any suspicious links but I still don't know at this point. Do you think I should keep scanning for now?

If you are still not sure all is well I'd recommend that you select one of the sites listed below, there're all free, and work with a specialist there to make sure that all is well with your system

Thanks for your suggestions! I have been running full scans and so far it is not freezing anymore. Do you think I should run a scan with Malwarebytes too?

Ok here is what I am finding going on. I run the full scan and sometimes it goes straight through without a problem but at other times during the scan I find that the number of files will freeze up but the yellow bar on top will keep moving and the instant I touch the mouse on my computer Norton will move to the next set of disk optimizations and completed saying that there are No Threats Found.

Are there any other suggestions or thoughts you may have?

I definitely need your input.

Thank you!

Just a quick follow up I have only run scans with Norton 360 Quick Scan, Full Scan, and Norton Power Eraser but if you have any other tools you think I should scan with tell me.
