Norton 360 and Parallels for Mac with M1 Chip

I don't remember what version of Norton I was running in Parallels on my previous Mac. When I upgraded to my new Mac (M1), I found that I had to install Windows 11 with Parallels as I noted in a previous comment. After that install, I went to my Norton account web page from a browser running in the virtual machine (Parallels 17 and Windows 11) and attempted to download the latest version of Norton from there. That is when I received the error message that it would not download because it was not compatible with the operating system (Windows 11 I assume).

From what little I have learned, in order to run Windows on an M1 Mac, I need to run Parallels 17 (which has been designed to run on the M1 chip). Windows 10 will not install on Parallels 17, only Windows 11 will. Parallels provides instructions on how to load and run Windows 11 on Parallels 17 on an M1 Mac. I have followed those instructions and so far everything works, including newer apps like Microsoft 365 and some very old legacy apps dating back 10 years. So far, the only app I cannot get to work in this Windows 11 environment is Norton. And, to be clear, the problem is that it will not download. It may in fact work once installed but I can't find out because it will not download.

Jim is your Norton version 8.7.0 ? Also please keep in mind the M1 chip is ARM 64 based. I would also think that may be an issue with the VM since Windows wouldn't be a compatible OS with ARM. Just an educated deduction on my part although I don't run MAC.

With no solution being offered for my problem at this time, it appears my only option is to do without Norton and wait. When Windows 11 releases, Norton may have a version compatible that I can download. If my Norton subscription expires before that happens, I will not renew.

According to Parallels (https://www.parallels.com/products/desktop/resources/#requirements-guestos), in order to run Windows on an M1 Mac, the only ARM supported versions of Windows are Windows 10 (on Insider Preview) and Windows 11 (when released). Here (https://kb.parallels.com/125375/?_ga=2.246968900.1579987232.1633361697-1301954743.1632928122) are the Parallels KB instructions I followed. I had previously tried to install Windows 10 but it would not install.  I am not aware of any other way to run Parallels on my M1 Mac.

As stated, if the Parallels VM is Windows 10 there shouldn't be an issue installing Norton on it. Parallels and/or Norton appear to be viewing Windows 11 as not a valid OS since it is still not RTM. Windows 11 is the issue in my view not Norton. Related maybe?

Does your machine meet TPM requirements for the host OS?

I understand that Norton can run on a MacBook Pro with the M1 chip. I am not looking to do that though. I am trying to run Norton inside a Windows OS in a Parallels virtual machine in order to provide protection for that OS. I also suspect that Norton is seeing Windows 11 as a not-supported OS. My question is, is there a way around this for me to load Norton on my Parallels/Windows11 system or not? Or will I have to wait until Norton has a release that fully supports Windows 11? If the latter, since I do not know when/if that will be and since I can't load/use Norton 360 for that OS, I will cancel my subscription.

Norton IS compatible with the M1 ARM chips per this post. HoweverThe VM and the host OS both require a seperate install of Norton to protect both. The issue I see is with the pre-release of Windows 11 which Norton parallels itself may not see as a supported OS.
