Norton 360 Application Keeps Opening On Its Own

Starting today my Norton 360 application started randomly opening on its own, this is not the pop-up ads but the actual application itself. I will close it then go to do something and it will just open again by itself after 5 to 10 minutes. It is driving me crazy because it will pop up over whatever I am doing and I have to keep stopping to close it. I have tried restarting my computer but the issue is still persisting. I am on Windows 10 with the latest version of Norton 360 installed. Any help to keep it from doing this would be appreciated.

Looks like the issue has been resolved now. Haven't had a pop up in the last 24 hours. Thank you for your diligence.

Fyi:  I had this problem a few days ago, with the User Interface popping up on its own every 10-15 minutes.  I normally use the Classic Launch View.  So I tried changing it to the other (MyNorton) view, using the drop down box in the main Settings page.  Since then I have not had any popups.

Since I prefer the Classic View, I just changed back to that about 30 minutes ago.  So far, no UI popup.

The problem is resolved at my end for now.

I did 'live update', and once that was done, I restarted my computer. So anyone still facing this issue, please try the option of live update and restart the computer (not shut down). Hopefully it should work.

I have now received and installed two patches. It hasn't resolved the issue. The main screen opened back up within minutes of the patch. Unbelievably annoying.

Had the same issue, I rolled back windows updates via restore point and the problem has gone, it seems it could be a flaw in a recent windows update and not a norton issue

Not necessarily. Windows restore also takes all installed apps back to the time the restore point was made.

This thread gets more interesting all the time.

@Garjon 4

Can you tell us precisely what windows update was rolled back? What is your OS?

I’m still receiving GUI pop-ups, but they were not random tonight. This is the first time I was keeping track. They’re coming precisely every 2 hours at 8 minutes past the even hours. So tonight they arrived at 8:08pm (PDT), 10:08pm, and 12:08am (Sunday morning).

EDIT - deleted (question already answered)

For those still experiencing this issue, please continue to run a manual live updates as not all locations may receive the fix at the same time.    Another option, although a PIA, is to conduct a clean reinstall your Norton Product.  Ensure you select full removal of all settings/files/folders. Reboot, download a clean copy, and reinstall/update.  This is what I did around midnight on the 26 Oct and it stopped the GUI from popping back up.

FWIW...To stop the emails from a thread you've previously posted in, click on your Profile, then Subscriptions, then on the right, click unsubscribe.  Also, If I recall correctly,  believe there is a tick box you can uncheck, on your first post, if you don't want to be hit with follow-up notifications.

No luck here. This incredibly annoying problem is still popping up the Norton 360 window.

My installed version is 22.23.9.9

Ran Live Update and other than some protection updates there has been no product update since last week.

What is going on guys?

I joined the Norton Community yesterday and of course being Norton the default setting is "please send me an email every time someone comments". So an in box full of Norton emails this morning when I've come to try an address getting to much interruption from Norton.

STILL popping up thanks.

3PM EST, another pop-up, moments after I started up the PC today.

What's funny is that my current version of Norton 360 shows to be version 22.23.9.9; to my knowledge this is the same version I had when all of this started! So they issued a fix without updating the version? That seems weird to me. But whatever. As long as it's not making me bang my head furiously against the wall anymore.

Hotfixes for issues such as this do not change the version number of the installed product.

Patch appears to be working - no popups over the last 24 hours.

Yesterday around this time (when I last posted) the issue slowed down from "every few minutes it opens itself up without being summoned" to "it only happens every once in a while." Since yesterday late afternoon it hasn't happened to me at all.

The update/patch has worked on both pc's.

Thanks Norton for getting on this quick.
