Norton 360 asking me to uninstall Webroot Spysweeper

Hello,
I have three PC computers, all with XP Pro operating systems. One is a laptop from 2005, one is a Desktop from 2008 and one is a second laptop from 2009.

On the '05 laptop I have an expired version of Spysweeper and an expired version of Norton Anti-Virus 2007

On the '08 desktop I have a currently active paid subscription to Spysweeper and an active paid subscription to Norton Anti-Virus 2008

On the '09 laptop I don’t have anything yet

I’ve been having a lot of problems with the '08 desktop and I believe it may be infected with several viruses that Norton AV 2008 and Spysweeper are not fully picking up, so I figured the best option would to buy the newest and supposedly best version of Norton for all 3 computers; Norton 360. So just now I purchased a 1-year subscription to Norton 360 and first installed it on the '09 laptop, then went to the '05 laptop to install it there too and it told me that, in order for it to work, I had to uninstall Spysweeper and get it off my computer. I did this since Spysweeper is expired on that computer, but I still have an active paid subscription to Spysweeper on my '08 desktop so I’d rather not waste the rest of my subscription by uninstalling it so that Norton 360 can run. I like Spysweeper and have been impressed with its results and it has often times caught things that Norton has not, so that’s another reason why I’d rather not get rid of it.

So my question is, is there any way to keep Spysweeper on my '08 Desktop computer and install Norton 360 as well and have them both up and running?  I’ve considered uninstalling Spysweeper, installing Norton 360, then re-installing Spysweeper, but I don’t want to have even more problems on that computer if it turns out that doing that will negatively effect it.

Thanks for any help on this matter.

I would weigh up how long have you got to go on your spysweeper subscription....With any problems of mucking around with uninstalling and installing

Are your PCs protected with a router?? ....then maybe let the subscription run out and then install N360.

Hi hyperviolet,

The problem may be due to the real-time protection from Webroot Spysweeper which is blocking the installation of the Norton program. Which version of Webroot Spysweeper you have in '08 desktop? You may need to uninstall the Spysweeper program for installing the Norton 360 and you can reinstall Spysweeper afterwards.

Norton 360 is a powerfull suite which consists of advanced Firewall/AntiSpyware and other critical security features. So, there is no need of an additional AntiSpyware program like Webroot Spysweeper.  Also, it is not recommended to run two or more security products that are not designed to work together on a single computer can severely affect the performance. It is also known fact that running 2 similar Security Programs (AntiVirus/Firewall/AntiSpyware) at the same time can affect System performance as well as conflict with the functionalities of the other. Better use either Webroot or Norton 360, don't use both of them together as both are having real time scan engines that may conflict with each other.
